Strawberries- Coming Soon- Hopefully

For Mother's Day Halleelujah got me a Topsy Turvy Strawberry Planter. I was really excited, I loved the idea of growing my own strawberries. In the summer strawberries are something we have on hand all the time.
We had a hard time finding strawberry plants that did not cost a fortune since you need about 16 plants to fill the planter. Hubby finally found some a the flea market. So last weekend I finally got them planted.
The planter is super heavy I was a little worried it would pull the hook out, but so far so good. So, I am hoping to take strawberries from this planter and by using this
make.......
this.

How fun would that be?  I will keep you posted on  my progress.
Let me know if you have any tips or tricks to share.

The Greenzys- Review

A while back I won a twitter contest hosted by Greenzeys. I was super excited when I heard I won. I just knew Halleelujah would love this book. Well, I can honestly tell you that I was right, she loves it. It is always her book of choice before nap time and bed time. She calls it WOW book. She calls elephants WOW and her favorite character in this book is Willow, the elephant.
"GREENZYS is an eco-friendly children’s brand, embracing green living through products that are environmentally safe, fun and educational -- with a heartwarming story that both children and parents will love!"

The book even came signed by Lisa Keyser the Creator of Greenzeys. Such a special treat!

I also really like this book, it has a great story line and it helps to teach kids about protecting our environment in a fun way.
They also make plush toys of the Greenzys characters that are really cute. They are "made from Soy fibers and non-toxic dyes and are packaged with recycled paperboard."
Aren't they so cute. You can purchase them at FAO Schwartz for 29.99. I think I am going to add Willow to Halleelujah's birthday wishlist.

This is such a great company with a lot of great things going for them. I am hoping they will have another book coming out soon. Teaching Halleelujah how to love and protect our earth is something I want her to love and respect and there is no better way to teach her then through books.

Thank you Greenzys for sending us this great book!

Sprinkler FUN!

When the day is as beautiful and hot as it was today, it is time to pull out the sprinkler for some fun in the sun.

My hubby picked up this sprinkler from Walgreens the other day. I was a little skeptical that it would work well. I was suprised that it woorked great and Halleelujah loved it.

So as you can see Halleelujah and her daddy had a blast in the sprinkler.

Aloha Friday

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday. In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too.

Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

My question is: What is your favorite thing to do in the summer heat?

Our family loves to go to the pool! Halleelujah just loves the water and so does her mommy and daddy. The community pool is just 2 blocks from our house so a lot of times we walk there and then we are ready to jump right in. What about you?

A New Patio

So you might think we are crazy when I show you what we are doing to our backyard. But trust me, it works for us. This is our patio last summer.

It is a garden pond, and let me tell you they may look pretty, sound great, and be a lot of fun to look at, but other then that they are a pain.
I have always loved our pond, it was a major selling point when we bought our house almost 5 years ago. But in the last 5 years we have gone through 3 pumps, 1 liner, a lot of water treatments, water plants, fish, and I am sure  more. That adds up, and now we have a toddler who loves to play outside.
So we decided to extend our patio and fill in the pond, it is  bitter sweet, but I am excited for the outcome, Hallee will have more room to play and ride her car, swim in her pool , etc.
But in the mean time our patio looks like this.

AHHH a mess. We are waiting on the concrete company to schedule a date for us. I hate waiting. So really this post is
 to be continued............

My First Post!

WOW.... I'm doing it! This is my first step into the blogging world! I've been reading other blogs for a while now and dreaming about having my own blog. I have finally decided I just need to go for it and see where it takes me. I may be slow, confused, and random to start with, but I am sure as time goes on I will get the hang of this whole blogging thing.

Since this is my first post, I will start by introducing myself. Well, my name is Colleen, I am 27 years old and I have been married to my husband for 5 years. Doug, my husband is 33, his hobbies include but are not limited to sports, fishing, hunting, and hanging out with his family of course. We met while working at a christian summer camp the summer of 2003, we didn't start dating until after the summer ended, it is a really long story but pretty interesting, I think I will save that for a differnt post. We got engaged, again another great story for another time, July 2004, and got married on December 11, 2004.

In January 2008, I found out I was pregnant, we were so excited! Finally all our dreams were coming true.
One September 10, 2008 we welcomed our daughter Hallee Mae into the world. She is now 20 months old, I can hardly believe it. I titled this blog Halleelujahmommy because Halleelujah is a nick name we use for our daughter sometimes and I couldn't think of anything else at the time.
Here is a picture of my beautiful daughter.

I can't believe I almost forgot to tell you about a couple other memebers of our family. Our dogs, Schweitzer and Bandit. Schweitzer is the big one and Bandit the cocker.
